I have called Colony two times since I have been a home owner. The first time I had no real complaints except that I felt charging someone $120 to come and spend 10 minutes to tell them they need to replace their AC unit was a little steep. My second experience was not so good. The tech was unfriendly from the moment he got there. He came on a Friday night because my furnace was not working. He looked at the unit, and then went to check my thermostat, where I immediately realized that the thermostat was the problem (it had been set to cool instead of heat). I told him it would work now, but he insisted on cleaning a sensor first. He then charged me $31 to clean it (which consisted of wiping it off for 10 seconds). While he was there I asked him if, in my own troubleshooting work, I had accidentally turned off the pilot light on my water heater. He looked at it, and without really saying much, just messed with it, then proceeded to re-light it. He charged me $47 for this. Now, I know it was my fault that he was there on a Friday nigh for no reason, so I was not going to complain at all about being charged the $120 for him to just show up, but the additional $80 was pure robbery. Lesson learned, call someone other than Colony if I have any heating or AC issues. Edit: In response to the amount of time he was at my house, I want you to know that he was on the phone for much of that time sitting in the vehicle. So, between sitting in the truck on the phone, and sitting in the truck writing a bill charging me for more than I should have been charged for, he spent maybe 25 minutes in my house. He was also quite rude. I have worked as a service technician for 3.5 years and would never treat a customer so poorly. I just hope this post is able to help other people who need service done, since there are many options in Cedar Rapids.

We have Colony do fall and spring inspections for the furnace and air conditioners and they always arrive on time. This fall I mentioned to the worker that I wished our house had been zoned when it was originally built. The Colony employee said he thought it could still be done. That same day he had a sales person called me and set up an appointment. Within a couple of days, I had Steve out to the house to get me an estimate and I received the quote within a couple of days and had the parts ordered immediately. Two days ago, Mark installed the zones and everything went perfectly. I would highly recommend Colony Heating!
